New ‘Longlegs’ Film With Nicholas Cage In The Works At Paramount

Paramount has won the rights to a new feature film set in the universe of Longlegs, Deadline has learned.
Cage will star in and produce the follow-up film. Osgood Perkins, who wrote and directed the original film starring Cage, Maika Monroe, Alicia Witt, Kiernan Shipka, Blair Underwood and more, will pen the script, direct, and produce.
The film’s producers are Brian Kavanaugh Jones of Range Media Partners; Perkins and Chris Ferguson, through their company Phobos; and Dave Caplan under his C2 banner, which originated the rights to the property.
Details are being kept under wraps, but the feature will be set in the same universe as the original. The first film delivered the best original horror opening year-to-date when it hit theaters in July 2024. It also marked the best-ever start for a Neon film at $22.6M.
Perkins, who wrote and directed the $128 million grossing Longlegs, recently wrapped production on The Young People, starring Nicole Kidman, Lola Tung, and Nico Parker.

Monroe has since starred in the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel Reminders of Him alongside Tyriq Withers.
Perkins is represented by CAA, Untitled, and attorney Jonathan Shikora of Lichter, Grossman, Nichols, Feldman, Rogal, Shikora & Clark. He and his producing partner Ferguson and their production banner Phobos have a first-look deal with Neon, the Tom Quinn-run 9-year old distribution company.
Cage is repped by WME, Stride Management, Patrick Knapp at GGSSC.
