Married At First Sight Australia viewers were left stunned after one bride was forced to deliver her Final Vows to an empty room.
During tonight’s (May 11) episode of the Channel 4 hit dating programme, it was finally time for the final vows.
The remaining couple had to return to their hometowns to reflect on their relationships before deciding whether to continue their marriage or end it.
However, it was David who left everyone shocked as he brutally abandoned his wife, Alissa, standing alone after admitting that he did see a future with her.
It was obvious Alissa didn’t see it coming, as she had earlier suggested that she was going to walk away. Walking into Final Vows, she was confident that David would choose to stay in the relationship, but it appeared that her mind was also made up, and she was walking in with the intention of ending things, reports OK!.

Speaking to the camera, she said, “Today is going to be tough for David. He missed the mark because he was a ‘yes’ man. The ball is in my court today, and it breaks my heart knowing I’m going to be breaking his heart at the end of this.”
However, she didn’t get a chance to do that as David beat his bride to the punch. His vows appeared to be off to a brilliant start, as he began by praising his strong connection with Alissa.
However, things rapidly went downhill when David revealed to Alissa that his feelings about their relationship had shifted during the final commitment ceremony. Their row following the Grass is Greener challenge proved to be the breaking point.
He said, “I finally spoke up. You accused me of blindsiding you, and in that moment, I realised something important. I wasn’t being heard. You couldn’t see I wasn’t attacking you – I was finally standing up for myself.”
He continued: “You flirted, made inappropriate jokes, and spoke poorly about me behind my back. I felt betrayed and disrespected by what I saw.

“I challenged you, and you shut me down. It felt as though you wouldn’t take any accountability for how I had felt. Throughout all this, I’ve been patient, and I have done a lot of the listening, but I’m done listening.”
Confessing that he still loved Alissa, David then delivered the crushing blow, telling his bride he was choosing his own peace over Alissa.
He explained: “With you, there was no version of me that could win. I’ve realised I can’t be the man who constantly fights to be heard or constantly fights to prove his worth to someone who is still deciding if I’ll be enough.
“Today I’m not walking away because I’ve stopped loving you, Alissa. I’m walking away because loving you shouldn’t mean losing myself.”
In a devastating moment, he left before Alissa had the opportunity to read her vows. Alissa appeared utterly stunned as she said, “You’re not going to listen to my vows?”

As David continued to walk away in silence, she added: “That’s a no?. Wow, I just wasted three months of my life, and he won’t even listen to me.”
Alissa was compelled to recite her vows aloud to an empty room. Viewers at home were left gobsmacked by the unexpected “plot twist” and quickly took to social media to share their reactions.
One fan wrote on X: “This has me lost for words #MarriedAtFirstSightAustralia #MafsAU.” Another said: “YES DAVID dropping her before she got the chance to drop you first and then walking away without even hearing her vows watching her smug grin slowly disappear was so satisfying #mafsau #mafsaustralia.”
A third commented: “She is reading to thin air loool #mafsau.” Another fan said: “The plot twist!!! #MAFSAU #MAFSAustralia #MAFS #MAFSAUS #MarriedAtFirstSight #MarriedatfirstsightAustralia.”
