What we heard on this week’s Sunday with Laura Kuenssbergpublished at 10:21 BST

On this week’s Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, we heard from Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister Darren Jones who said girls raped by two teenage boys who were spared jail “deserve justice” for them and their families.

He also said that the attorney general is set to review the sentence given by Judge Nicholas Rowland, who had said on Thursday he wanted to avoid “criminalising” the “very young” boys.

Asked whether the victims’ families could be expecting to hear news very soon, Jones added that “we want to look at this urgently, and the attorney general’s made that commitment”.

Reform UK’s Treasury spokesperson Robert Jenrick, who also appeared on the programme, said: “I hope the sentences are changed and these rapists are put behind bars.”

Meanwhile, former minister Alan Millburn said “a system reset is needed” as nearly a million young people are not in work, training or education (Neets).

We will shortly be closing our live coverage, but we’ll be back next week.
