WTA French Open First Round Best Bets Including Sinja Kraus vs Belinda Bencic

The WTA French Open action begins. The 2026 edition of Roland Garros gets underway, as the second major tournament of the year and the one clay major arrives in Paris. This should be a very interesting women’s tournament, since there is no clear or obvious favorite going in. Iga Swiatek had a solid Rome tournament but lost to Elina Svitolina and is still not the dominant player she once was. Aryna Sabalenka is the top seed but has struggled recently. Coco Gauff is the defending champion but has been involved in a lot of three-set matches in recent weeks. The lack of predictability adds to the excitement around the event. It all starts on Sunday. LWOS has our best bets for three matches. Post your best bets and thoughts in the comments.
WTA French Open
Bronzetti – Bouzkova: Time 5:00 EST
H2H: 0-1
Lucia Bronzetti faces Marie Bouzkova. Bronzetti, ranked outside the top 150, made her way through qualifying to get into the main draw. She won the third-round qualifying match to make the main draw by beating Katarina Zavatska due to Zavatska’s retirement in the third set. Bronzetti lost the first set, then won the second set in a tiebreaker to stay alive. Bouzkova made the quarterfinals of Strasbourg this past week and lost to Ann Li, a top-40 player, in the quarterfinals.
Best Bet to Make
Bronzetti was successful but not very convincing in French Open qualifying. She easily could have lost to Zavatska, a lower-ranked opponent, in the third and final round of qualifying. She needed to win a tiebreaker to survive into the third set, when Zavatska’s body failed her. Bouzkova hasn’t had a great season, but she improved in Strasbourg. She easily defeated Katerina Siniakova in that tournament, one of her better wins in recent weeks. Bouzkova’s improvement in form offers reason to think she can win this match comfortably.
That being said, betting on Bouzkova winning 2:0 is a value bet for sure.

Kraus – Bencic: Time 6:00 EST
H2H: 0–0
Sinja Kraus faces Belinda Bencic. Kraus has won six matches in a row, three of them in French Open qualifying. She defeated Anna-Lena Friedsam in the final round of qualifying to reach the main draw. Bencic is 3-3 in her last six matches, so it is reasonable to think that Kraus is the more in-form player right now. However, Bencic’s last three losses have all come to players who are seeded at this French Open: Anna Kalinskaya, Hailey Baptiste, and Linda Noskova.

Best Bet to Make
The six-match win streak for Kraus should not be ignored, but Bencic is simply playing a higher level of competition. She has last more than Kraus has in the past few weeks, but all of Bencic’s recent losses are against good players. She isn’t losing to players outside the top 50 or top 100 (which is where Kraus is ranked, just outside the top 100). She is losing to really good opponents who are playing well right now. There is a significant talent gap between these players. Bencic should be able to impose her superior skills on Kraus.
That being said, betting on Bencic winning 2:0 is a value bet for sure.
Value bet/ the best odds: Bencic winning 2:0 @1.75 @1xBet
Kovinic – Wang: Time 7:00 EST
H2H: 0–1
Danka Kovinic faces Xiyu Wang. Kovinic has played just two matches since February 26, both losses. She lost in Rabat this past week to Fiona Ferro in straight sets. Xiyu Wang is 11-1 on clay this year and has won nine of her last 10 matches. She is in a very good run of form. Accordingly, the betting markets have installed Wang as a massive favorite in this match.
Best Bet to Make
The fact that Wang is a huge favorite means that Wang winning in straight sets will not offer much of a price. You have to go to the game spread. The reasonably-priced spread is 6.5 games. You could try 7.5, but 6.5 offers a much higher likelihood of winning. Wang should be able to cover that spread. Kovinic just hasn’t played much tennis in recent weeks and shows no real signs of being a threat.
That being said, betting on Wang -6.5 games is a value bet for sure.
