‘1998: The Toll Keeper Story’ Is Coming to PlayStation 5

1998: The Toll Keeper Story officially made its PlayStation 5 debut at BitSummit, Japan’s premier indie game festival, which took place in Kyoto from May 22 to 24. Visitors could experience the demo at a dedicated PlayStation exhibition area, ahead of the game’s upcoming official release on the PlayStation 5.

“It has been a long journey to showcase our work at such a prestigious event and within the PlayStation area,” said Riris Marpaung, the CEO of GameChanger Studio. “This support is a concrete action from PlayStation in recognizing high-caliber indie products.”

GameChanger Studio also noted that their partnership with PlayStation involved a rigorous selection process, with PlayStation recognising not only the game’s mechanics and narrative depth, but also its cultural impact and the studio’s own social initiatives.

1998: The Toll Keeper Story is developed by GameChanger Studio, an indie game developer from Tangerang, Indonesia. The game is set in a fictional Southeast Asian country going through the 1998 Asian financial crisis, which explores the fear, chaos, and uncertainty of the era, challenging you to navigate through moral dilemmas where survival demands difficult sacrifices.
