Morgan Wallen flips piano over in onstage meltdown

A country superstar surprised fans with an onstage meltdown at his concert on Friday.

Video on TikTok shows Morgan Wallen flipping his piano over after apparently getting frustrated with an instrument malfunction. Wallen was performing “Sand in My Boots” in Denver when he gave up on the upright piano and completed the song a cappella.

Then Wallen walked back to the piano, shoved it and flipped it over, breaking it. According to the New York Post, the crowd reacted with gasps and cheers.

Wallen, 33, and his reps did not comment on the incident afterwards.

Billboard reports fans expressed support for Wallen, praising his a cappella performance of the singalong ballad.

“No piano needed..give it up!! Sound better without it!!” one social media comment said.

“Imagine he’s giving us this beautiful Acapella solo and all he’s thinking about is pushing that pos piano over,” another wrote.

“Yall won tho with the acapella version of SIMB,” a third commented, referring to “Sand in My Boots” from 2021’s “Dangerous: The Double Album.”

“This man doesn’t need any background music when he is unplugged. He is the ultimate acappella singer,” a fourth added.

Rolling Stone compared it to Billy Joel’s 1987 concert in Moscow, Russia, when the “Piano Man” singer flipped over his keyboard after allegedly getting frustrated with a film crew lighting the audience.

Wallen finished his concert Friday with no other incidents, wrapping up the encore with “Last Night” and “Whiskey Glasses.” He resumed his tour Saturday night at the same venue, Empower Field at Mile High Stadium in Denver.

Wallen, who drew a sold-out crowd to the Syracuse amphitheater in 2022, is a Grammy-nominated country singer known for hits like “I Got Better,” “Chasin’ You,” “7 Summers,” “More Than My Hometown,” “Cowgirls,” “Thought You Should Know” and “You Proof.” He’s also had a history of controversies, including getting arrested for allegedly throwing a chair off a roof that landed near two police officers, had a “Saturday Night Live” performance canceled after violating Covid guidelines, and apologized for using a racial slur in a 2021 viral video.

Wallen’s stadium tour dates continue Friday in Pittsburgh, followed by shows in Chicago, Baltimore, Philadelphia and more. Fans can get tickets on Ticketmaster, Vivid Seats and StubHub.
