Gordon & MacPhail has partnered with football icon Sir Kenny Dalglish on a limited-edition collection of ultra-rare single malts linked to pivotal moments in his life and career.
Gordon & MacPhail has partnered with football legend Sir Kenny Dalglish for the inaugural release of a new personalised whisky concept called Vintage Moments.
The Elgin-based whisky specialist will release the first collection in October 2026, with just 15 Sir Kenny Dalglish’s Vintage Moments by Gordon & MacPhail Whiskies box sets available to purchase.
The new initiative centres on creating bespoke collections of five ultra-rare single malt Scotch whiskies distilled in years that correspond with significant moments in an individual’s life. Gordon & MacPhail said a small number of private clients will be given the opportunity each year to sample single malts and select five whiskies linked to pivotal years in their own personal histories.
Each whisky is hand-drawn from cask and bottled at cask strength, with Gordon & MacPhail describing each bottling as “the only expression of each particular single malt that will ever exist”.
Dalglish selects five landmark years
To launch the concept, Gordon & MacPhail worked with Sir Kenny Dalglish to curate five rare single malt Scotch whiskies distilled in years linked to landmark moments in his life.
Dalglish, who was born in 1951, is regarded as one of the greatest strikers in post-war British football and remains one of Celtic’s, Liverpool’s and Scotland’s most admired figures.
“I was delighted when Gordon & MacPhail approached me to celebrate my Vintage Moments. The experience of selecting specific single malts to share with others was an incredible memory in itself. I’ve been lucky enough throughout my life to have had some fantastic moments and narrowing these down to five pivotal years was not easy. But I am very much looking forward to the forthcoming release and sharing the stories behind my selections,” commented Sir Kenny.
The five chosen vintages, along with details of the presentation and pricing, will be revealed when the collection launches in early October.
Stocks dating back to 1948
Gordon & MacPhail said the project draws on its extensive inventory of maturing Scotch whisky, which includes stocks from every vintage between 1948 and 2023 and spirit sourced from more than 100 Scottish distilleries.
The company described its Vintage Moments collections as offering clients the opportunity to own “chapters of Scotland’s liquid history” through whiskies linked to key moments in their lives.
“It is a source of immense pride to be the only Scotch whisky company in the world to have stocks from every vintage going back as far as 1948. Many of these whiskies were laid down by grandfather, George Urquhart, who has been called ‘the father of single malt’,” said Stephen Rankin, Gordon & MacPhail director of prestige and fourth-generation family member.
“This legacy allows Gordon & MacPhail to create exclusive, personalised box sets for our private clients and it’s a pleasure to kick off with Sir Kenny’s Vintage Moments just ahead of this summer’s World Cup.”
