Britney Spears Debuts First Hair Transformation in 4 Years as She Ditches Her Signature Waves

Britney Spears has a whole new look thanks to celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton. On June 1, he revealed that the pop star is his latest A-list client in a new Instagram post.

Spears’s blonde tresses were noticeably pin-straight and styled in a side part. The singer has favored a bit more texture in recent years, as she’s frequently worn her hair in loose waves.

Posing for a selfie with Appleton, Spears clutched several styling tools as she stuck her tongue out for the camera. The “Toxic” artist paired her new ‘do with an orange floral dress.

“As a kid growing up in England, Britney Spears was the soundtrack to so many moments. Never in a million years did I think I’d one day be standing behind the chair (or in this case her standing behind mine, lol) styling her hair,” Appleton wrote in his caption.

“Some moments really do come full circle. She is not only an icon, but one of the most genuinely kind and gentle souls I’ve ever met,” he concluded.

Appleton’s other noteworthy clients include Kim Kardashian, Nicole Kidman, Martha Stewart, and Drew Barrymore.

The last time that Spears sported a major hair transformation was back in 2022, when she revealed that she dyed her hair purple.

“Here’s me with purple hair… I’m bored, ok ???” She captioned an Instagram Reel at the time, per Allure. “Very bored so my nail girl said do it!!!! Girl…I did it but not sure I like it but hey…Here’s me in a 100 dollar mini dress with my boots.”

Last month, Spears’s youngest son Jayden enjoyed a rare public outing at Dior’s Cruise 2027 fashion show in Los Angeles. On May 13, the 19-year-old stepped out at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, where he layered a forest-green jacket over a checkered button-down, a white T-shirt, and distressed jeans.

It marked Jayden’s first red carpet appearance since 2015, when he attended the Teen Choice Awards alongside his mom and older brother Sean, who is now 20.

Spears shares both of her sons with ex-husband Kevin Federline. They were married from 2004 to 2007.
