Allen Park — Rookie receiver Kendrick Law tore his ACL at practice Tuesday during a non-contact drill, Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell said Thursday morning.
“Hate it for him,” Campbell said. “The kid was doing a good job. But it’s part of it. It’s (a) harsh reality, but he’ll get it out of the way early, have his whole career in front of him.”
Law, selected in the fifth round of April’s draft, played collegiately at Alabama (2022-24) and Kentucky (2025). He caught 53 passes for 540 yards and three touchdowns across 12 appearances with the Wildcats. One of Law’s biggest strengths is his ability with the ball in his hands; Law recorded 505 yards after the catch in 2025.
The top of Detroit’s depth chart at wide receiver includes Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams and Isaac TeSlaa. Greg Dortch, a veteran who has a familiarity with new offensive coordinator Drew Petzing from their time together with the Arizona Cardinals, figures to be the fourth option. Others contending for a roster spot include Dominic Lovett, Jackson Meeks, Tom Kennedy, Malik Cunningham and Cedrick Wilson Jr.
