Scarlett Moffatt has confessed her glittering TV career is built entirely on blunders but she wouldn’t have it any other way. The 34-year-old star turned I’m A Celebrity champ and Gogglebox star revealed she actually purposely makes mistakes on screen thanks to advice from her long-time mentors Ant and Dec.
Speaking exclusively to the Daily Star as she promoted Homesense’s new campaign, Scarlett said: “I actually got given the greatest advice ever from Ant and Dec, and they said, ‘When you’re interviewing people or members of the public who’ve not done telly before, make a mistake, so that they know that it’s OK to make mistakes.’
“So, I actually always purposely make a mistake. I do it all the time so it’s not that stressful. So yeah, my whole career is just me making mistakes.”

Scarlett, who became a household name with her sharp one-liners on Channel 4’s Gogglebox before going on to win I’m A Celeb in 2016, admitted the trick helps ease the nerves of first-time guests.
She added: “If you’re going to a studio for the first time you’re like, ‘Oh gosh’. There are all these people and so much pressure. But if you just make a mistake, people realise it’s not that bad and they relax.”
The TV star, who has gone on to front Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway alongside the Geordie duo, says their support has been life-changing.
“They’ve always stayed in touch and they’re just so lovely,” Scarlett gushed. “They are what you see on TV and that made me so happy, because I’ve loved them since I was a kid. The fact that I still get to chat to them and call them friends is a bit mental.”
But Scarlett admits she still has to pinch herself around her childhood heroes. “I do try not to fangirl that much otherwise it’s a bit weird,” she laughed. “They’ll ask, ‘Do you want to come for dinner?’ and I’m like, ‘Oh my, yes!’”

Scarlett has also been keeping fans entertained with her candid takes on social media, but says her secret to success is simple: “I just keep making mistakes and hope people laugh with me, not at me.”
The TV star has also joined Homesense’s Great Cushion Debate campaign, which has explored how half of Brits claim disagreements over cushions have caused tension at home.
Scarlett added: “It’s so funny how something as simple as cushions can get people talking. Whether it’s how many you have on your bed, where they go, or even if you ‘chop’ them or not. Homesense is helping settle these debates, and it’s brilliant. Head to Homesense on Instagram to have your say!”
