There were murders, betrayals… and a fart.
The third episode of The Celebrity Traitors has taken place, and veteran British actress Celia Imrie releasing wind at a tense point in the game was one of the moments that got viewers talking.
“What just happened?” presenter Claudia Winkleman demanded to know.
“I just farted, Claudia. It’s nerves, but I always own up,” responded Imrie, sparking howls of laughter.
Winkleman then had to tell the celebrities to settle down, before they launched into a tough challenge.
Celebrity contestant Kate Garraway told ITV’s Good Morning Britain: “It was so loud! How could somebody so elegant, so petite, so gracious, let off that huge sound?
“And it was so nerve-racking in a serious moment. It was my favourite, favourite moment in that cabin, which was deeply unpleasant.
“She’s adorable, we salute you.”
Fans online were left in hysterics, with one X user calling it “the TV highlight of the year”, while another said we’d “peaked as a nation”.
“Critically acclaimed thespian Celia Imrie farts like the rest of us folks,” noted showbiz reporter Catrina Rose.
But the latest episode wasn’t all fun and games.
Before long, two of the younger celebrities had been forced to leave the show.
