Reports: Lions agree to four-year, $180M extension with DE Aidan Hutchinson

The Detroit Lions are locking up the cornerstone of their defence for the long haul.

Superstar defensive end Aidan Hutchinson has agreed to a four-year extension, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the deal is worth $180 million and comes with $141 million guaranteed.

The $141 million in guarantees is the most guaranteed money ever in an NFL contract.

Hutchinson, despite coming back from a torn ACL suffered last season, has been as productive as ever for the Lions this year. In seven games, the 25-year-old has six sacks, six tackles for loss and 13 QB hits, along with a league-leading four forced fumbles.

Since being drafted second overall by the Lions in 2022, the Plymouth, Mich., native has 34.5 sacks, 36 tackles for loss, 78 QB hits and eight forced fumbles in 46 games.

He earned his first and only Pro Bowl nod in the 2023 season when he picked up 11.5 sacks.
