Canucks’ Brock Boeser injured by puck vs. Blues

Forward Brock Boeser exited in the first minute of play against the St. Louis Blues on Thursday after taking a hard shot to the midsection from defenceman Elias Pettersson.

The 28-year-old was helped down the tunnel by the training staff and did not return to the game. The Canucks confirmed Boeser would not return early in the second period but did not disclose any other information about the injury.

Vancouver has a growing list of key contributors already out of their lineup, with captain Quinn Hughes and forwards Conor Garland, Teddy Blueger, Filip Chytil, Nils Hoglander and Jonathan Lekkerimaki all sidelined to begin the night.

Boeser has four goals and two assists in nine games this year and has netted 208 goals and added 232 helpers in 563 career games since he was drafted 23rd overall by the franchise in 2015.

The Canucks are sixth in the Pacific Division with a 5-6-0 record heading into their matchup with the Blues (3-6-1).
