Wendy Holdener goes into the second run of the World Cup slalom in Copper Mountain with a chance of victory. The Swabian has only Mikaela Shiffrin ahead of her.
Holdener, who opened the race in the mountain air of the Rocky Mountains with bib number 1, was the only one able to keep up with Shiffrin to some extent. She is 28 hundredths behind the American. Katharina Liensberger and Lara Colturi follow more than four tenths behind Holdener in 3rd and 4th place. Zrinka Ljutic, the winner of the discipline in the previous season, was eliminated, as she was in Gurgl.
Camille Rast is in 6th place the day after her 5th place in the giant slalom. Eliane Christen moved up to 13th position with bib number 28, Aline Danioth (23rd), Nicole Good (26th), Mélanie Meillard and Anuk Brändli (both 29th) are also in the running in the second run.
Shiffrin has won the first two slaloms of the winter in dominant fashion. In front of her home crowd, the 30-year-old record-breaking woman from Colorado is going for her 104th World Cup victory, her 67th in the slalom. The second run starts at 21:00.
