Seahawks Activate Julian Love & Jarran Reed From IR; Elevate Velus Jones Jr. From Practice Squad

ATLANTA—The Seahawks will be as healthy on defense for Sunday’s game against the Falcons as they have been all season.

Safety Julian Love and defensive tackle Jarran Reed were both activated from injured reserve, clearing the way for them to play on Sunday.

Additionally, the Seahawks elevated running back Velus Jones Jr. from the practice squad to add depth at that spot with usual No. 3 back George Holani on injured reserve.

No corresponding moves were needed to add Reed and Love to the roster, as the Seahawks waived two players during the week to open up roster spots: running back Myles Gaskin, who was then signed back to the practice squad, and defensive tackle Quinton Bohanna, was claimed off waivers by the Green Bay Packers.

Due to various injuries throughout the season, the Seahawks have not had all of their defensive starters at the same time at any point this season. Outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu missed the season-opener while making his way back from a knee injury, then safety Nick Emmanwori exited that game after just four plays with ankle injury that caused him to miss the next three games, and cornerback Devon Witherspoon suffered a knee injury later in that game that caused him to miss five games. Love injured his hamstring the following week, causing him to miss nine of the next 10 games, and the Seahawks have also been without, at various points in the season, Reed, who had surgery to repair wrist and thumb injuries, cornerbacks Riq Woolen and Josh Jobe, linebacker Ernest Jones IV, and outside linebacker DeMarcus Lawrence.
