Dodgers join Blue Jays in Edwin Diaz chase as stress grows on Mets

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Mets’ chance to close with Edwin Diaz has a championship obstacle.

The Dodgers are among the teams that have shown serious interest in Diaz, The Post has learned. The Blue Jays, who lost in the World Series to the Dodgers, also are involved for the best reliever on the market.

The Braves would love to still add a top end-game reliever and are obviously quite familiar with Diaz from the NL East. But once they received what will be either the 26th or 27th overall draft pick for Drake Baldwin winning the NL Rookie of the Year, they apparently have become more reluctant to sign a player who would cost them their second overall selection and have to pay at the top of the market for a reliever.

But simply the presence of two league champions willing to spend will apply stress on the Mets’ ability to reunite with Diaz.
