Key Facts
The upcoming gala will mark Beyoncé’s first appearance at the event in a decade, as she last walked the Met Gala carpet in 2016 and previously served as an honorary chair in 2013.
Kidman has previously co-chaired the gala twice in 2003 and 2005, while tennis star Venus Williams has never chaired, though her sister Serena was a host in 2019.
The Met also announced a slate of celebrities to serve on its host committee, which will be co-chaired by fashion designer Anthony Vaccarello and actress Zoë Kravitz.
Other stars included in the host committee include Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Gwendoline Christie, Alex Consani, Misty Copeland, Elizabeth Debicki, Lena Dunham, Paloma Elsesser, LISA, Chloe Malle, Sam Smith, Teyana Taylor, Lauren Wasser, Anna Weyant, A’ja Wilson and Yseult.
What Is This Year’s Met Gala Theme?
The Met has not yet announced what this year’s dress code will be, but it said in November the upcoming gala will honor the museum’s spring 2026 exhibition, “Costume Art.” The exhibition will be “organized into a series of thematic body types,” the Met said, which will include concepts like the “naked body” and the “classical body,” as well as body types often overlooked in fashion like the “aging body” and the “pregnant body.” The exhibition will inaugurate new space in the museum, the 12,000 square foot Condé M. Nast Galleries, adjacent to the Met’s Great Hall.
