It comes after last week The Sun revealed the Brummie presenter is one of ten stars in contention to replace Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman when they leave at the end of the year.

But her renewed role on This Morning may make taking the Strictly role a struggle.

A source said: “Alison is a huge talent and no one was surprised she’s being looked at for Strictly.

“But she’s very happy at This Morning so, as far as anyone knows, has no intention to quit to take on the dance show — but there may need to be some juggling of the schedule.”

Tess, who has hosted the show since it first started in 2004, and Claudia, who joined in 2014 after Bruce Forsyth left, announced in October they were departing.

The three frontrunners to take over are Bradley Walsh, Alex Jones and Alan Carr.

The rest of the group screen testing next month are Alison, Rylan Clark, Rob Rinder, Zoe Ball, Holly Willoughby, Amanda Holden and Angela Scanlon.

A source said: “Ultimately, no one is bigger than the show so whichever lucky pair land the jobs will be the ones who the BBC think will be the perfect accompaniment to the series.”

Alison shot to fame on reality TV show Big Brother in 2002 before taking on a regular reporting role on This Morning in 2003.

But she did not officially join the presenting panel until 2021.

This Morning, which won Best Daytime Show at September’s National Television Awards, also signed up Alison’s colleagues Dermot O’Leary, Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard for another year.
