£10m player likened to John McGinn could now sign for Leeds United in January

Leeds could revisit several deals in January which they failed to wrap up in previous transfer windows.

Harry Wilson remains of interest after Leeds saw a deadline day move for the Fulham No.8 collapse at the final hurdle, whilst talks are ongoing over El Chadaille Bitshiabu – who Leeds failed to sign ahead of RB Leipzig in 2023.

Like Wilson, Facundo Buonanotte was another who escaped the clutches of Leeds last summer, although The Athletic now suggest the 49ers could have a second chance to land the Argentine this winter.

Leeds United fans told Elland Road move “may appeal” to Facundo Buonanotte now

The Argentina international was set to move to Yorkshire after Leeds and Brighton agreed a loan deal during the summer, only for Chelsea to swoop in and hijack negotiations.

Should Leeds make another attempt to sign Facundo Buonanotte? 🤔

The Argentine is a fine player, but has he already burned his bridges by rejecting us for Chelsea? 🔥

It was a bizarre thing for Chelsea to do given the wealth of attacking talent Enzo Maresca already had at his disposal, and it is therefore no surprise to see that Buonanotte has only made one Premier League appearance this season.

The Athletic now write that Chelsea could send the South American back to Brighton in January, and claim that a move to Leeds “may appeal” to the 21-year-old as he aims to get his career back on track.

There is no suggestion made in regards to whether Leeds remain interested in Buonanotte – who FBREF claim is similar to John McGinn statistically.

In our opinion, Daniel Farke may have personally lost interest in the attacking midfielder after switching to a 3-5-2 formation, a shape which does not accommodate a natural No.10 like the Brighton loanee.

Another Chelsea outcast is likelier to join Leeds United

Buonanotte – who Brighton paid £10m to sign from Rosario Central in January 2023 – is a talented player, but after the formation change, we feel a different Chelsea outcast is likelier to join Leeds in Raheem Sterling.

The England international is on the market this winter having failed to play any football under Maresca so far this season.

Leeds are monitoring Sterling, and the 31-year-old is capable of playing as either a striker or even a wing-back in Farke’s new 3-5-2 formation.

Leeds can also do a deal without having to wait, unlike the situation involving Buonanotte – which depends on Chelsea sending the Argentine back to Brighton first.
