Star Wars’ Carrie Fisher’s Daughter Reveals How Her Mom Lives On

Star Wars’ Carrie Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd, discussed the lasting impact of her late mother on the ninth anniversary of her death.

On Saturday, December 27, 2025, Lourd, who is also an actor, shared a heartfelt post on her Instagram account. She included a photo of herself with her parents and another photo of her own children, stating that Fisher will always live on through her grandchildren. She expressed how grateful she was to wake up to her kids grabbing her face and how she told them that their grandma would have loved them so much.

She continued her touching post, saying how her kids brought her so much joy and the joy she feels only exists because of her mom. She said that while Fisher wasn’t there physically, she was present in the lives that would not be here without her. The American Horror Story actor added that at the time of her post, she was experiencing her grief in a very bittersweet way and mentioned that her grief would shift throughout the day.

Since marrying Austen Rydell, Lourd has welcomed two children, a son in 2020 and a daughter in 2022. She makes a point of keeping Fisher’s memory alive and treasures the moments her kids spend with her father, emphasizing the importance of family bonds and the love that will spread across generations of children. She then thanked Fisher for everything and said that she would always miss her.

Fisher is best known for her role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars films. Her daughter has even starred in supporting roles alongside her in the newer movies of the massive science fiction franchise. Lourd appeared in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi as Lieutenant Kaydel Ko Connix. She also portrayed a younger version of Princess Leia in a flashback scene in The Rise of Skywalker after Fisher’s passing.
