Services
- All federal, provincial and municipal government offices, including all Access P.E.I. locations, are closed on New Year’s Day.
- Canada Post offices are closed, and there will be no mail delivery or collection on New Year’s Day.
- Island Waste Management Corporation’s Waste Watch Drop-off Centres will also be closed on New Year’s Day, and there will be no garbage collection that day. Any collection normally scheduled for the first Thursday of the month will instead take place on Saturday, Jan. 3.
- All Service Canada locations are closed on New Year’s Day.
- T3 Transit does not operate on New Year’s Day. Islanders can book rides through ride-sharing apps Kari and Uride.
- On New Year’s Eve, P.E.I. Public Library locations that are normally open on Wednesdays will close by 5 p.m. All libraries will be closed on New Year’s Day.
- Offices of the Courts Administration Service and of the Registry of the Federal Court of Appeal, Federal Court, Court Martial Appeal Court of Canada and Tax Court of Canada will be closed on New Year’s Day.

- Atlantic Superstores are open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 31 and closed on New Year’s Day.
- Your Independent Grocer stores in Kensington and Cornwall are closed on New Year’s Day, while the Alberton location is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- All P.E.I. Liquor Control Commission and P.E.I. Cannabis stores will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 31 and closed on New Year’s Day.
- Royalty Crossing mall is open from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 31 and closed on New Year’s Day.
- Confederation Court Mall is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 31 and closed on New Year’s Day.
- Walmart stores in Charlottetown and Summerside are open from 7a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 31, and are closed on New Year’s Day.
- Giant Tiger stores in Charlottetown and Summerside are open from noon to 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 and closed on New Year’s Day.
- Shopper’s Drug Mart stores and pharmacies will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on New Year’s Day.
Pharmacies
- Murphy’s Pharmacies in Morell and Wellington are closed on both Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.
- Murphy’s Pharmacies in Summerside, Kensington, Tyne Valley and Charlottetown’s East Royalty and West Royalty are open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 and closed on New Year’s Day.
- Queen Street Pharmacy in Charlottetown is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 31, and noon to 5 p.m. on New Year’s Day.
- Parkdale Pharmacy in Charlottetown is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on New Year’s Day.
- In Stratford, the Kinlock Pharmacy is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 31, and the Stratford Road location is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 31. Both are open noon to 5 p.m. on New Year’s Day.
- Cornwall Pharmacy is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 31, and noon to 5 p.m. on Jan. 1.
- Rustico Pharmacy in North Rustico is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 31, and closed on Jan. 1.
- The Lawton’s Drugs locations in Summerside as well as on St. Peters Road and Water Street in Charlottetown will be open from noon to 5 p.m. on New Year’s Day.
