In a first look of the gameshow, Sara teases: “The fastest quiz on TV – where five players are given thousands of pounds before they’ve answered a single question.

“In this game, Time is Money, so the trick is keeping hold of it. With every second that passes their timers count down, coin by coin.

“If you keep buzzing in and answering correctly, then your opponent’s timer will speed up. But an incorrect answer costs 50 pounds. If their timer hits zero, they’re out of the game.

“You’re out of time and you’re out of money, so they’ll have to act fast to protect their prize. This is Time is Money”.

Each contestant will stand before a Money Timer, which is an hour-glass shaped podium filled with thousands of pounds.

At the beginning of each round, it’s topped up before draining dramatically with each passing second.

In order to stop the money from falling, the contestants must race to stop it but if the money runs out, they’re out of the game.

Only one person can make the final and get a chance to take home the money they’ve managed to save so it’s all to play for.

Ahead of the show airing, entrepreneur Sara says: “I feel a personal link to the idea because in the business world, time is absolutely money!

“This game is about doing everything in your power not to lose your money.

“It has a completely different and additive layer in that with other gameshows you’re usually trying to win money, but in Time is Money, you’re trying not to lose it.”

She took to Instagram to reveal the exciting news as she admitted she had to step outside of her comfort zone to star as host for the show.

She said: “So guys, I’m going to be kicking off the new year in style with something completely different for me… and something that’s taken me WAY out of my comfort zone (but that I’ve absolutely LOVED).”

Sara continued: “I’ll warn you now though, it’s unlike any other quiz you’ve watched on telly. It’s fast paced, high energy and SO much fun!”

Her celebrity pals took to the comments section as fellow Dragons’ Den star Steven Bartlett posted four fire emojis.

Vicky Pattison gushed: “MAJOR BABES,” while Oti Mabuse said: “Let’s go @saradaviescc.”

Amy Dowden wrote: “Can’t wait xxx,” and Peter Jones added: “Amazing news. Good luck Sara.”

As well as Time Is Money, she also just starred on her own show, Sara Davies’ Christmas Craft Off which saw celebrities including Charlotte Crosby and Dani Dyer learn the art of making crafts with the DIY queen.

She announced back in March that she was leaving Dragons’ Den to focus on her business, Crafter’s Companion, which she is a CEO of.

Time Is Money starts on Thursday 1st January at 6pm on ITV1, STV, ITVX and STV Player.
