CORONA, Queens (WABC) — A makeshift memorial was growing Friday morning for one of the victims of a hit-and-run in Queens early New Year’s Day.

Flowers and candles adorn the scene where 25-year-old Darwin Cargua was killed on 102nd Street in Corona.

Luis Romero was also hit and was critically injured.

Friday is his 25th birthday.

Officials say both men are Ecuadorian immigrants.

They were hit by a white SUV as they walked home from a New Year’s Eve party.

The driver sped off.

No arrests have been made.
