Air ambulance called to Chelmsford after ‘medical emergency’ on ice rink

A man has been taken to hospital for further assessment and treatment

A man has been rushed to hospital after an incident on an Essex leisure centre’s ice rink. Emergency services rushed to Riverside Leisure Centre in Chelmsford on Monday (January 5) morning.

Multiple ambulances and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were sent to the scene on Victoria Road in Chelmsford. An adult man has been taken to hospital for further assessment and treatment.

Riverside Leisure Centre hosts a number of activities, including ice skating, swimming, a gym and leisure classes. Chelmsford City Council, who manage the facility, has been contacted for further information.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 11.15am to reports of a medical emergency on an ice rink on Victoria Road in Chelmsford. Two ambulances, an ambulance officer vehicle and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were sent to the scene. An adult man was transported by road to Broomfield Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
