Des Plaines Costco Business Center, gas station could begin construction this year, city council moves ahead with planes

DES PLAINES, Ill. (WLS) — The Des Plaines City Council voted to approve the proposal for a Costco Business Center and a gas station, despite concerns by some in the community.

The Costco center would stock office and business products, not the general inventory of the warehouse chain.
The site is located at at 2200 E. Devon Ave. and 2400 E. Devon Ave. The gas station is proposed for the west side of the site.
The city council moved to approve the proposal despite community concerns.
A final council vote happens in two weeks, and construction could begin late this year.
Some neighbors were against the plan, telling ABC7 news partner The Daily Herald they fear that gasoline fumes and car exhaust would affect their health and the health of their children.
Final votes are expected at the council’s next meeting on Jan. 20.
The only other Costco Business Center in the Chicago area is in Bedford Park at 7300 S. Cicero Avenue. That location also has a gas station.
