Penguins forward Bryan Rust sidelined by injury

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Bryan Rust will be absent for Saturday’s game against the Calgary Flames due to an undisclosed injury.
Coach Dan Muse announced Rust’s status approximately two hours before the opening faceoff and labeled him as “day to day.”
With Rust hobbled, the team recalled forward Rafael Harvey-Pinard from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.
Muse indicated forward Kevin Hayes will replace Rust in the lineup, but did not specify where Hayes will be in the lineup. Harvey-Pinard was recalled as a precaution.
Rust is the team’s second-leading scorer with 36 points (16 goals, 20 assists) in 40 games while averaging 20:16 of ice time per contest. In addition to skating on the top line, Rust operates on the top power-play unit and on the penalty kill.

In 19 games this season, Silovs has an 8-5-6 record, a 3.24 goals-against average, an .884 save percentage and one shutout.
Silovs has faced the Flames only once in his career. As a member of the Vancouver Canucks, Silovs made 20 saves on 26 shots in a 6-5 overtime home loss, Oct. 9, 2024.
• The Penguins enter the contest with a season-best six-game winning streak.
• Penguins defenseman Erik Karlsson has 699 career assists.
• The Flames enter the contest with a four-game losing streak (0-4-0).
