Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg: Kemi Badenoch and Lord Mandelson to be quizzed

Badenoch says she wants to see a stronger Britainpublished at 09:12 GMT

In the second of the new year interviews with party leaders, Laura Kuenssberg starts by asking Conservative Party Leader Kemi Badenoch if the UK is not a serious country, referring to her use of the phrase in various speeches and interviews.

Badenoch says the UK has been complacent for a very long time and that she wants to see a stronger Britain.

She says this includes a government that works fully in the national interest, a strong economy, properly funding defence and being taken seriously by other countries around the world.

She adds that the government’s net zero plans, for example, mean the UK is losing its manufacturing capacity, unemployment is going up, and it’s harder to fund defence.
