Bills running back spotted in walking boot hours before crucial playoff game against Jaguars

Jacksonville, FL — The Buffalo Bills enter EverBank Stadium looking to knock off one of the hottest teams in the NFL.
It will be a tall task for the Bills. Jacksonville won eight straight games to end the 2025 season, and Buffalo’s injury list is significantly longer than the Jaguars’.
Buffalo will be down two key defenders in the matchup. Rookie cornerback Max Hairston suffered an ankle injury in the Bills’ Week 18 win over the New York Jets. Veteran Dane Jackson will provide depth at cornerback in Hairston’s place. In addition to Hairston, Buffalo will also be without Terrel Bernard (calf). Bernard has dealt with injuries throughout the season that have hampered his play, but it’s still a loss for the team’s depth.
Offensively, Buffalo will be without their third-down back, Ty Johnson. Johnson, dealing with an ankle injury, was spotted in a walking boot entering EverBank Stadium on Sunday morning. Frank Gore Jr. will be the team’s No. 3 back on Sunday behind James Cook and Ray Davis.
Here is a look at Buffalo’s inactive list for today’s Wild Card Weekend matchup.
- CB Max Hairston
- LB Terrel Bernard
- RB Ty Johnson
- S Darnell Savage
- OL Tylan Grable
- TE Keleki Latu

Jacksonville enters the matchup relatively healthy. Offensive lineman Cole Van Lanen was listed as questionable for the matchup with a knee injury. After an extensive workout this morning, the tackle was ruled out. Offensive lineman Walker Little is expected to move from guard to tackle to replace Van Lanen.
Van Lanen’s loss is significant. He had a 92% pass block win rate for the Jaguars since taking over as the team’s left tackle in Week 13.
