Caleb Love makes history early in NBA career

Caleb Love has been impressive for Portland

While Caleb Love didn’t end his career with the North Carolina Tar Heels, he spent three seasons with the program before transferring to Arizona to finish off his college career. Love helped get the Tar Heels to the national championship game in 2022 including a huge win over Duke in the Final Four.

Love still represents North Carolina, and now that he’s in the NBA, he’s finding success with the Portland Trail Blazers. The guard is averaging 21.1 minutes per game this season, appearing in 32 games for Portland and he’s been a bright spot.

Now, he’s making some history.

Love has 66 made three-pointers on the season and is shooting 33 percent from the three-point line. The 66 three-pointers are the most ever by a two-way contract player in a single season. It’s also the most by any NBA rookie off the bench this season.

After going undrafted, Love earned his spot with Portland. Now, he’s showcasing his shooting ability from the perimeter and is helping make a difference.

If he keeps this up, he should earn a bigger role for the franchise moving forward.
