Several ICE protests happen at Las Vegas schools, student hit by car

Social media flyers promoting anti-ICE walkouts at Las Vegas schools led to several protests on Wednesday.

The flyers list multiple schools, indicating that the walkouts will begin at 10:30 a.m. and continue until 1:11 p.m.

The flyer states, “It no longer matters if you’re a U.S. citizen. With the behavior of I.C.E., it seems that legality no longer matters. If you are a U.S. Citizen and are able to show proof, I.C.E. has no jurisdiction over you, and yet, Renee Nicole Good was shot and killed with the perpetrator facing no consequences because he is shielded by the anonymity I.C.E. provides him.”

The protests are regarding the death of Renee Good in Minnesota, who was shot and killed by an ICE agent.

Protests reportedly took place at several Las Vegas high schools, including Legacy and Cheyenne High Schools.

A source also tells News 3 that a student was hit by a vehicle during a protest at Desert Rose High School. The student is expected to be okay. The driver remained on scene and appeared to be cooperating with police.

In a statement, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says it is aware of the walkouts and is monitoring participating schools.
