Patriots vs. Broncos weather forecast for AFC Championship Game

The New England Patriots better pack an extra layer of clothes for their trip to Denver, because the upcoming AFC Championship Game against the Broncos projects to be a cold one. In fact, if the current forecast turns out accurate it will be their coldest game of the season.

According to NFL Weather, the kickoff temperature at Mile High Stadium will be 17°F with a wind chill of 13°F. In addition, there is a small chance of some light snow with wind gusts of up to 10 mph.

The National Weather Service, meanwhile, predicts mostly sunny conditions for Sunday with a 20% chance of snow after 11 a.m. local time.

By now, playing in the cold is a familiar experience for the Patriots. Temperatures dropped below 40°F in each of their last seven games, including Sunday’s divisional round win over the Houston Texans. New England went 6-1 during that stretch.

The Broncos, on the other hand, have played only one such game this season. It is their most recent one, though: their divisional win over the Buffalo Bills was played at 34°F.

Kickoff between the AFC East champion Patriots and the AFC West champion Broncos is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 25at 3 p.m. ET.
