FBI to give update on ‘major’ investigation amid U.S. media reports Ryan Wedding in custody

Last confirmed sighting was 2 years ago
There has only been one confirmed sighting of Wedding since 2024, when Jonathan Acebedo-Garcia, a Montreal-born drug trafficker who became an FBI informant, met with Wedding and his alleged right-hand man, Andrew Clark, in a Mexico City Starbucks in January 2024, according to court documents.
Clark was arrested later that year. Wedding remained on the lam until now.
U.S. prosecutors allege that once Wedding learned Acebedo-Garcia was working with investigators, he ordered a hit on his longtime ally and even offered a $5 million US bounty. Acebedo-Garcia was killed — shot five times in the head — while having lunch with friends in Medellin, Colombia, last January.
In December, the FBI released a picture of a shirtless Wedding in bed, showing off a lion tattoo on his chest. It was said to have been taken somewhere in Mexico last summer.
Separately, the U.S. Embassy in Mexico published what appeared to be an older photo of the Thunder Bay, Ont.-born fugitive in a green T-shirt, with a shaved head.
