Alex Honnold’s Taipei 101 free solo climb postponed – as it happened

Is climbing a building different from sport climbing?
Saturday – 08:00 local time (GMT +8)
Many of you are probably wondering if climbing a building is any different to climbing on rock or other sorts of competition surfaces? The short and sweet answer, is yes.
But while it might be different from the more traditional forms of sport climbing that feature at the Olympic Games, climbing a building relies on a lot of the same basic technique and skills.
“Climbing is climbing,” Honnold told Tudum. “You’re doing your best to stay focused and not fall off.
“The movement is a little different in that buildings are much more repetitive. It’s just the same movement patterns over and over. So that also means that, in general, buildings are a little bit less tricky.
“On a building, you know how to climb it, but it’s physically more taxing because you’re doing the same thing over and over, so your muscles get tired.”
