‘Red, White & Royal Wedding’ Casts Lena Headey & Chloe Fineman (EXCLUSIVE)

EXCLUSIVE: Lena Headey (The Abandons) and Chloe Fineman (Saturday Night Live) have joined the cast of Red, White & Royal Wedding, Amazon MGM Studios’ sequel to their hit rom-com Red, White & Royal Blue, based on Casey McQuiston’s bestseller.
Headey will play Princess Catherine; Fineman’s role is being kept under wraps, as is the logline for the sequel. Led by the returning Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez, the film will also star the previously announced Uma Thurman, Sarah Shahi, Rachel Hilson, Ellie Bamber, Clifton Collins Jr., Stephen Fry, Thomas Flynn, Aneesh Sheth, Malcolm Atobrah, Henry Ashton, and Alex Høgh Andersen, with production underway.
Jamie Babbit is directing from a script by Gemma Burgess, Matthew López, and McQuiston, with Berlanti Schechter Films’ Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter returning to produce, joined by the banner’s Michael McGrath, as well as López and Sullivan Street Productions’ Jennifer Salke. McQuiston and Michael Constable are executive producing.
Released in 2023, Red, White & Royal Blue follows Alex Claremont-Diaz (Perez), who upon his mother’s (Uma Thurman) election as President, is promptly cast as the American equivalent of a young royal. Handsome, charismatic, brilliant — his image is pure millennial-marketing gold for the White House. There’s only one problem: Alex has a long-running feud with his royal counterpart across the pond, Prince Henry (Galitzine). And when the tabloids get hold of a photo involving an altercation between the two, U.S./British relations take a turn for the worse.
The film was the most-watched worldwide for Amazon in its first three weeks of release, coming in as one of Prime Video’s top three most-watched romantic comedies of all time. Thus, for Amazon MGM, quickly greenlighting a sequel was a no-brainer.
Nominated for five Emmys and myriad other awards for her turn as Cersei Lannister in HBO’s Game of Thrones, Headey has more recently been seen starring opposite Gillian Anderson in Netflix’s Western drama The Abandons. Upcoming, she’ll also be seen in a new Netflix crime thriller series from Black Mirror‘s Charlie Brooker, among other projects. She is repped by TMT Entertainment, CAA, and Kraditor & Haber.
A cast member on SNL for seven seasons, Fineman’s other recent film & TV credits include Freakier Friday and Jillian Bell’s directorial debut Summer of 69 for Hulu. Her upcoming slate includes Joey Power’s rom-com Love Language, Josh Greenbaum’s pickleball comedy The Dink, and Brian Swibel’s comedic thriller The Very Best People. She is repped by Nicole Garcia Management, CAA, and Lichter, Grossman, Nichols.
