NBA postpones Grizzlies vs. Nuggets game at FedExForum because of winter storm

The game between the Memphis Grizzlies and Denver Nuggets scheduled for Jan. 25 has been postponed, the NBA announced.

That announcement comes as a major winter storm is hitting the Mid-South and a large portion of the country. The buildup of snow and ice has made it difficult to travel in the Memphis area.

The NBA said a rescheduled date would be announced later. The Grizzlies announced that tickets for the game would be valid for the rescheduled date.

The announcement about the postponement came less than three hours before the game was scheduled to tip-off. It came after the Memphis Police Department warned drivers to stay off the roads because of the conditions.

“If you must drive, take your time, stay alert, check official websites for reported trouble areas, and avoid them,” the department said in a social media post.

It wasn’t the only Memphis-area game that has been affected by the storm. Memphis women’s basketball moved up a scheduled game against UTSA from Jan. 24 to Jan. 23 to avoid the worst weather and then postponed a game scheduled for Jan. 27.

Meanwhile, Memphis men’s basketball played in Wichita on Jan. 24 but was not able to travel back to Memphis after the game. The Tigers are off until Jan. 29, when they’re set to host FAU at FedExForum.

The Grizzlies are set to face the Houston Rockets on the road on Jan. 26 before returning home to face the Charlotte Hornets on Jan. 28.
