Giants legend Eli Manning snubbed by Hall of Fame voters again

Eli Manning won’t be heading to Canton — again.

The former Giants quarterback was snubbed by Pro Football Hall of Fame voters for the second straight year, according to The Athletic.

The two-time Super Bowl champion had been one of 15 modern-era finalists up for induction into the Hall later this year.

The two-time Super Bowl MVP was announced as a finalist for the Hall of Fame after falling short last year after reaching this stage.

He was alongside a long list of retired NFL stars: Willie Anderson, Drew Brees, Jahri Evans, Larry Fitzgerald, Frank Gore, Torry Holt, Luke Kuechly, Terrell Suggs, Adam Vinatieri, Reggie Wayne, Kevin Williams, Jason Witten, Darren Woodson and Marshal Yanda.

Brees, Fitzgerald and Vinatieri are seen as three of the most likely candidates for induction.

Manning was passed over a year ago in favor of Eric Allen, Jared Allen, Antonio Gates and Sterling Sharpe.

“I’m excited for those guys that got in,” Manning said after he was left out last January. “All of them are so deserving … I had a feeling it wasn’t going to be my night, and I understand that. I’m totally at peace. It’s not gonna change my outlook on my career and how I feel about it.”

Along with his two championships — in which he bested Tom Brady and Bill Belichick’s Patriots both times — Manning ranks 11th all-time in both passing yards (57,023) and passing touchdowns (366).

Aside from Brady and Patrick Mahomes, who are seemingly no doubt first-ballot Hall of Famers when their turn comes up, Manning is only two-time Super Bowl MVP who hasn’t been inducted to Canton.

Next year, Manning will be on the ballot once again alongside potential first-ballot inductees Rob Gronkowski, Adrian Peterson, Richard Sherman and Ben Roethlisberger.

There is no set number for any class of enshrinees, but the Committee’s current bylaws stipulate that between four and eight new members could be elected each year.

Manning isn’t the first big-name to fall short on the ballot this time around.

Belichick, an eight-time Super Bowl champion, shockingly fell short of the needed 40 out of 50 votes during his first time up for induction.
