Chrissy Teigen Reveals the ‘Quiet’ Warning Signs She Was Drinking Too Much Alcohol

Chrissy Teigen says she has quit alcohol again after becoming concerned she was drinking too much.
“We aren’t talking the kind of drinking where you slur your words and miss a step on the stairs. It was just quiet and consistent,” Teigen, 40, revealed in a post on Instagram on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
The model and cookbook author has now been sober for more than 50 days, she wrote.
She first took a break from drinking in 2020, then celebrated a year without alcohol in 2022.
But in the spring of 2025, Teigen said she let alcohol back into her life.
“I promised myself it would be in a ‘mindful’ way. I wanted to be able to have a glass of wine on a date night with my husband. To be able to toast on birthdays,” she wrote in her post this week.
“Soon it became the kind of drinking I’m all too familiar with. Quiet moments at home were for wine.”
Teigen noticed that she began to drink earlier and earlier in the day, first starting at 6 p.m. then eventually at lunch. “When it got to 11am, I was like, oh f–k, here we go again,” she wrote.
The day drinking meant she wasn’t able to pick up her car keys for a last-minute grocery run, she added, another troubling sign. And she didn’t feel good about herself.
Still, it wasn’t “messy enough yet to stop,” Teigen said. What made the difference was a conversation on her “Self-Conscious” podcast with “Summer House” star Carl Radke about his own journey with sobriety.
She was also in talks to appear on the “Star Search” reboot and vowed there’d be “absolutely no f—–g way I’d do it with alcohol in my dressing room.”
Teigen said she has no desire to turn back and return to drinking alcohol.
“Turns out, without it, I can still be funny. Still be stupid. Still be wildly nervous. Anxious,” she wrote. “And I can get through it all without it.”
