Rangers could green-light last-gasp January exit as potential signing opens door
Rangers could give the green-light for one player to leave in what would be a last-gasp January deal, but only on one condition.
The Gers have emerged as unlikely resistance fighters in the closing stages of this month, rebuffing substantial offers for key attacking assets while their pursuit of reinforcements hits obstacles.
According to reports this week, Danny Rohl’s side received a shocking £13 million bid from Turkish giants Fenerbahçe for striker Youssef Chermiti, which the Ibrox hierarchy swiftly rejected.
Monaco simultaneously lodged a £10 million loan-to-buy offer for winger Djeidi Gassama that was also snubbed out of hand, demonstrating Rangers’ determination to retain their attacking firepower despite receiving proposals worth a combined £23 million.
Chermiti’s renaissance under Röhl – highlighted by his match-winning double in January’s Old Firm victory – appears central to Rangers’ hardline stance.
Fenerbahçe reportedly remain interested and could return with an improved £18 million offer, though timing presents complications with deadline day approaching.

Rangers line up deadline-busting move to sign a big upgrade on Chermiti
Rangers are reportedly interested in a striker who could be a big upgrade on Youssef Chermiti.
Earlier this month, Rangers completed three signings that Rohl unveiled before the 5-0 Scottish Cup demolition of Annan Athletic.
Denmark winger Andreas Skov Olsen from Wolfsburg, Danish midfielder Tochi Chukwuani and Belgian left-back Tuur Rommens alla arrived in Glasgow, with Rohl’s ambitions extending beyond this trio.
Rangers’ striker hunt encountered frustration when Hansa Rostock rejected a £2.6 million offer for German third-tier forward Ryan Naderi, but reports suggest the 22-year-old is keen on a move and he remains their top target.
A lot of the news will centre around Naderi heading into deadline day, and journalist Pete O’Rourke has now suggested that the striker’s arrival could facilitate an exit for Danilo.
Rangers to green-light Danilo exit if replacement opens Ibrox door
According to O’Rourke and Football Insider, Rangers are prepared to green-light Danilo’s departure before Monday’s transfer deadline, but only if Rohl successfully lands another striker to bolster his attacking options.
The Brazilian has slipped down the pecking order at Ibrox, failing to start a Premiership fixture since early December whilst watching Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski establish themselves ahead of him.
Despite grabbing a stoppage-time goal against Dundee last weekend, Danilo’s peripheral role suggests his Glasgow tenure nears its end.
Röhl’s willingness to offload the former Feyenoord forward hinges entirely on recruitment success.
Rangers remain locked in negotiations with Rostock over Naderi, who has terrorized Germany’s third tier with eight goals and four assists across just 17 appearances this season.
If Naderi were to come in, it could spell the end for the 26-year-old, who hasn’t quite managed to justify his £6 million price tag from Feyenoord back in 2023.
Danilo has managed 16 goals and 11 assists in 76 appearances for the Gers, with Naderi’s potential arrival spelling the end of his time in Scotland.
