A Coventry food truck has been told to make ‘major improvements’ after receiving a one-star hygiene rating. Several issues were identified at The Khokha on Lockhurst Lane.

Inspectors from the Food Standards Agency visited The Khokha in December 2025. Concerns were raised over hygienic food handling.

Improvements were needed in the hygienic handling of food during cooking, reheating, cooling, and storage. Staff also demonstrated gaps in food safety knowledge.

Cleanliness and the condition of the facilities fell below the standard required for good food hygiene. Inspectors also highlighted areas that needed improvement in how food safety was managed.

Systems to ensure the food sold was safe to eat were inadequate, according to Coventry City Council. Officials expressed doubts that food safety standards would be consistently maintained.

A spokesman for Coventry City Council said: “All businesses that sell food in Coventry are inspected by Coventry City Council. Based on the standards of food hygiene found during the inspection on December 9, 2025, The Khokha received a food hygiene rating of 1.

“We have continued to work with the business to ensure that food safety laws are met, improvements are made, and the outlet is safe. Whilst improvements can be made by businesses following the inspection, they do not automatically alter the food hygiene rating score, but The Khokha can apply for a re-rating. If The Khokha does not apply for a re-rating, the rating will be reviewed and updated at the next planned inspection.”
