Free Chappell Roan’s Nipple Dress

It’s not really a red carpet unless there’s at least a smidge of nudity, and Chappell Roan just arrived to deliver it via a silver platter (er, via silver nipple rings). The artist, who never shies away from going the distance with all of her looks, went full throttle at the Grammys, showing up in a sheer piece of fabric that dangled from two hoops on her breasts. I just know Bianca Censori is shaking somewhere.

But when it came time to do the red-carpet interviews (she told an E! correspondent that the carpet felt “overstimulating” because “people are filming you and you don’t know what they’re doing with it”), Roan had a sheer cape draped over her shoulders and chest. I get it; tits out isn’t necessarily “appropriate” attire for national television, but we need to let someone push the envelope! Everyone else came to the Grammys in their little black-and-white gowns and shimmering, off-the-shoulder dresses, and, while most everyone looks lovely, it can get boring. For the most part, this is what my high-school prom was giving (and lord knows I don’t need to relive that right now).

Whether you love her style or hate it, Roan is at least always presenting us voyeurs with something to ogle at and dissect, and that’s more than we can say for many red-carpet looks nowadays. Lady Gaga once wore real meat on the red carpet, for crying out loud. I think we can all handle a little female anatomy.

“I do it my own way,” Roan said. “Which is, I guess, kind of my whole vibe. I like breaking the mold.” Yes, you could say that.
