Steve Wright was nicknamed the “Suffolk Strangler” by the tabloid press for murders he carried out almost 20 years ago.
He is currently serving a whole life term after killing Gemma Adams, Tania Nicol, Anneli Alderton, Paula Clennell and Annette Nicholls, before dumping their bodies on the outskirts of Ipswich in 2006.
He was convicted after a trial in 2008, but has always protested his innocence.
Wright is now alleged to have murdered a sixth woman – teenager Victoria Hall.
He denies the charge and the trial begins today.
