MONOPOLY: Philadelphia Edition seeks local submissions for board spaces

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Hasbro’s iconic Monopoly board game is getting a Philadelphia makeover, and they want to know which landmarks or institutions should get property squares.

You have a few more weeks to nominate a local favorite for a spot on the board.

“I think our ultimate goal is to create a game where somebody picks it up, and they say, ‘That feels like home,'” says Tim Barney, the game manager for Top Trumps, a division of Hasbro.

For the Philadelphia game, they want your input.

“What we seek to find are the organizations, businesses, landmarks, teams, schools, anything that a Philadelphia lover really, really wants to see in the game that fully represents their community,” Barney says. “It’s a board that’s very much made by and for the people.”

Top contenders right now include: the Rocky Statue, the Philadelphia Art Museum, the Liberty Bell, cheesesteak spots and more.

The game will make its debut in November.

You only have a few weeks left to enter your submission.

“We’re in our final stretch right now, so if anybody wants to be included, this is the time to do it,” Barney says.

The deadline to submit your nominations for MONOPOLY: Philadelphia Edition is February 28.

Public submissions and business inquiries can be sent to us.TopTrumps.com/Philly or emailed to [email protected].
