John Wick’s Forgotten TV Show Is a PVOD Streaming Hit 3 Years Later

Nearly three years after its television debut, John Wick‘s criminally underrated television series, The Continental, is experiencing a new surge on PVOD. Fans can grab the series on iTunes at a discounted price for a limited time.

FlixPatrol reports that The Continental has climbed to #3 on iTunes’ Top 10 TV Shows in the United States as of Feb. 7, 2026. It made its chart debut on Feb. 4, also at #3, shortly after iTunes’ latest weekly sale went live. The prequel series is now available for purchase for just $4.99, although it’s highly likely to increase back to its typical $19.99 once the week is over, so John Wick fans will need to act fast to secure the miniseries at this great price.

The Continental debuted on Peacock on Sept. 22, 2023 and was both a spin-off and a prequel to the John Wick franchise. It tells the background story of how Winston Scott, in an alternate history set in the 1970s, came to be the proprietor of the prestigious New York ‘Continental’ hotel seen in the John Wick films. The hotel is known as a safe haven for the professional assassins, and the miniseries explored how the hotel staff handle the colorful characters and murderers who seek shelter within The Continental’s walls.

The Continental starred Mel Gibson as Cormac O’Connor, Colin Woodell as Winston Scott (while John Wick fans will recognize Ian McShane portraying an older version of the character in the main films.) The rest of the series’ cast includes Mishel Prada, Ben Robson, Hubert Point-Du Jour, Nhung Kate, Jessica Allain, Ayomide Adegun, Jeremy Bobb and Peter Greene.

Despite never reaching the same level of critical acclaim as John Wick‘s theatrical releases, The Continental maintains relatively positive reviews even years after it concluded. It has a 63% Critics’ Score on Rotten Tomatoes, and audiences have rated it even higher; from over 500 user reviews, it sits at a 77% approval rating.

Reviews praised The Continental for having stylish action, but many admitted that it was really only targeted at the most hardcore John Wick fans who were seeking further worldbuilding from the hit action franchise. The series’ newfound iTunes domination proves that the franchise is still alive and well, with fans clearly eager to see what the future has in store.

Another John Wick spinoff, the Ana de Armas-led Ballerina, is also enjoying its own surge in streaming, proving that there’s further life in the franchise yet. As of Feb. 7, Ballerina is #2 globally on Prime Video’s charts. Both The Continental and Ballerina prove that the franchise doesn’t even need Keanu Reeves in the main role to drive in plenty of fans.

Three Exciting New John Wick Films Are On the Way

John Wick fans who are just now discovering The Continental have done so at a perfect time, and the series offers amazing binge-watching potential while waiting for the next John Wick film to materialize. There are currently three projects lined up for the future of the franchise, including John Wick: Chapter 5.

Reeves is set to reprise his role for the new film, and while details remain scarce at this time, the plot is expected to see John Wick facing new threats after wrapping up his time with the High Table. Other projects that are in various stages of development include a new film centered around Caine, Donnie Yen’s assassin character from John Wick: Chapter 4, as well as an untitled animated prequel film that was green-lit in April 2025.

The Continental: From the World of John Wick is now available for purchase on iTunes.
