When does biathlon start at 2026 Winter Olympics? Here’s full schedule

It’s one of the more distinct offerings at the Winter Olympics, but also sometimes the most confusing, combining cross-country skiing and shooting into one race.
Welcome to biathlon.
The 2-in-1 sport offers numerous different formats — mixed relay, relay, individual, sprint, pursuit and mass start— and will have all competition for the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics taking place at the Anterselva Biathlon Arena, which is located in the Antholz Valley of Italy.

Team USA will be comprised of Campbell Wright, Maxime German, Paul Schommer and Sean Doherty on the men’s side of biathlon, while Deedra Irwin, Margie Freed, Lucinda Anderson and Joanne Reid will compete on the women’s side.
The 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics mark the first for Germain, Freed and Anderson, while it is the fifth for Doherty, who became the youngest U.S. athlete to compete in biathlon at the Olympic Winter Games back in 2014 when he qualified for the Sochi Winter Games.
All 11 biathlon events at the Winter Games will be medal events.
As noted by USA TODAY’s Nancy Armour, Wright and Irwin have the best chance of ending the United States’ Olympic medal drought in biathlon at the Winter Olympics, the only sport that Team USA has not won an Olympic medal in outside of ski mountaineering, which is debuting at Milano Cortina.
