Winter Olympics 2026: Swiss curlers’ baby goes viral in “cute” family reunion

Could Briar Schwaller-Huerlimann and Yannick Schwaller’s one-and-a-half-year-old son have a future in curling?
That’s the question buzzing around online, following the Swiss family’s special reunion at the Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium on Wednesday (4 February).
In the moments after their 9-7 extra-end opening-round victory over Estonia, the husband-and-wife pairing were joined on the ice by their son, River, who was suitably suited, donning a Swiss shirt with “Schwaller” written on the back.
To the delight of spectators and fans tuning in to watch the mixed doubles action, he picked up a curling broom and began marching it down the sidelines, prompting him to become known as “the curling baby.”
“I guess it was very cute yesterday night,” Schwaller said, speaking to Olympics.com on Thursday (5 February) about the viral moment.
“It’s so special for us on this stage to share this with him. So yeah, it’s very enjoyable. We didn’t plan to make that viral, but it was cute.”
