Arshdeep Singh joined an elite list after dismissing Jan Frylinck during the T20 World Cup Group A meeting between India and Namibia at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium on Thursday, 12 February.

Arshdeep Singh completed 250 career wickets in across all levels of Twenty20 cricket on Thursday during India’s T20 World Cup Group A match against Namibia in Delhi. The left-arm pacer achieved the feat by dismissing Jan Frylinck in his second over, with the Namibian opener pulling a slower delivery straight to Shivam Dube at deep midwicket to depart for 22 off 15 deliveries.

Arshdeep, however, is India’s leading wicket-taker in Twenty20 Internationals, his tally rising to 121 wickets in his 78th appearance. Bumrah (107) and Hardik Pandya (105) are the only other Indians with 100 or more wickets in this format.

Namibia crumble after solid start in chase of 210

The Eagles were off to superb start after being set an imposing 210-run target by the Suryakumar Yadav-led Men in Blue at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, racing to 57/1 at the end of the powerplay despite Arshdeep’s strike.

Varun Chakravarthy, however, struck thrice in two overs to reduce Namibia to 88/4 at the halfway stage, putting India on track for a second victory in as many outings in the ongoing T20 World Cup.

Ishan Kishan (61) and Hardik Pandya (52) had earlier struck half-centuries in 20 and 27 deliveries respectively as India posted 209/9 after they were invited to bat by Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus.

The defending champions, however, were on track for a score in the range of 230-240, and fell well short of that mark after losing wickets in a heap in two separate phases – including five wickets for just 10 runs in their last two overs.

Erasmus was the pick of the Namibian bowlers with figures of 4/20 from four overs.
