If you’re someone who uses the Xbox app on mobile, you may have noticed today that you’ve been spammed with a bunch of “Mobile Test Message” notifications, said to be a “dummy message sent via Braze”.

This has become a big topic on social media over the past couple of hours, with hundreds of Xbox fans sharing screenshots of the notification and questioning what it means. Here’s one example:

In response, Xbox has now issued an apology over on Twitter/X, telling users that “the Xbox App got a little too enthusiastic” and saying sorry for “flooding your notifications”.

“The Xbox App got a little too enthusiastic with test notifications today. That’s on us, but it’s resolved now. Thanks for understanding, and we apologize for flooding your notifications.”

So, there’s nothing to panic about here, and there’s nothing you need to do either. It was simply a test notification that went wrong, and seemingly got pushed out to the vast majority of Xbox app users!
