Gleaner Arena in Elgin hosting free Friday football and gaming sessions for Moray teenagers

Football sessions are amongst the free activities being laid on for teenagers this Friday evening at Elgin’s Gleaner Arena.

Also on offer will be netball, plus a double-decker which is kitted out with computer consoles and DJ mixing desks.

The Gleaner Arena, which is next to Elgin City’s ground.

Open to both girls and boys aged under 18, the sessions are set to take place on the last Friday of every month until the end of October.

Dave Allen, the man behind the Gleaner Arena, is also on the board of the Community Alcohol Partnership, a new group which has been formed to reduce underage drinking.

He says: “It’s about offering something to do for young people in Moray.

“There’ll be refreshments in the new pavilion and somewhere to socialise.

“Spectators and families are also welcome.

“The Gleaner Arena will be the first location of what we hope is going to be a project that spreads all over Moray.”

The AYE bus is a mobile youth centre which began operating in Moray last November.

The Community Alcohol Partnership is supported by Police Scotland, Active Schools, Moray Council as well as some local businesses.

The Friday evening sessions will start at 7.30pm and last until 9pm.
