Phoenix Suns coach Jordan Ott addressed Cole Anthony’s status, as he has yet to join the team.

“It’s still the same,’” Ott said Feb. 26 before Phoenix faced the Los Angeles Lakers at Mortgage Matchup Center. “There hasn’t been much change, but we have had injuries and that’s kind of where it’s at.”

The Suns (33-26) acquired Anthony from the Milwaukee Bucks in a three-team deal before the Feb. 5 trade deadline. They sent Nick Richards to the Chicago Bulls and Nigel Hayes-Davis to the Bucks.

“That’s why there hasn’t been much change, but that’s why it’s not completely out,” Ott added. “We’ll continue to just stay in touch with his people and move this thing forward.”

Sources have informed The Arizona Republic that the Suns were looking to waive Anthony. The 6-foot-2-inch guard averaged 6.7 points in 35 games with the Bucks this season.

Anthony last played Feb. 3 against the Chicago Bulls.

The Suns are down Devin Booker (right hip strain), Dillon Brooks (left hand fracture), Jordan Goodwin (left calf strain) and Haywood Highsmith (right knee injury management).

Booker is due for a re-evaluation this weekend as he’ll miss his fourth straight game Thursday against the Lakers. The Suns won’t play again until March 3 at Sacramento.

“Still seems to be progressing,” Ott said. “You’ve seen him on the court. He’s definitely moving around more and more each day.”

The Suns announced Feb. 24 that Brooks will be re-evaluated in four to six weeks while Goodwin is scheduled for a re-evaluation in one to two weeks.

As Highsmith, he has yet to play this season after having right knee surgery back in August. He signed with Phoenix as a free agent after being waived by Brooklyn before the trade deadline.

The Suns announced Feb. 21 that Highsmith will be re-evaluated in two to three weeks.

Phoenix is a perimeter heavy team that still has guards Jalen Green, Grayson Allen, Collin Gillespie and Jamaree Bouyea, who has a set number of games being on a two-way deal.
