Awards watchers turn their attention with bated breath to the Producers Guild of America Awards, one of the strongest indicators of where the race for Best Picture at the Academy Awards stands.
While the PGA Awards will honor the achievements of producers across media, it’s the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures that inevitably draws the most eyeballs. The award, chosen from a field of 10 films through a preferential ballot, is an honor that replicates the Best Picture vote most closely in format and has predicted the previous five winners of the Oscars’ top prize.
